Warren Cohen: PRINCIPAL

The Big Thinker.

Warren P. Cohen is a Principal and Manager of D4 Urban. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Colorado in 1971, a certificate of Certified Public Accountancy in 1973, and a Colorado Real Estate license in 1974. Mr. Cohen started his career at Touche Ross & Company (a predecessor of Deloitte & Touche) in 1971. He went on to form Cohen Capital Corporation (CCC) in 1978—a Colorado-based real estate investment, management, and development company.

Since founding CCC In 1978 Mr. Cohen has acquired, developed, financed and managed real estate investment properties—including 3,265 apartment units, 1,649,091 square feet of industrial and commercial buildings, and 1,368 single-family home sites. In 1984 Mr. Cohen co-founded MegaBank Financial Corporation and served on its board and various committees until 2000. As a National Bank Holding Company, MegaBank opened and operated nine commercial banks in the Denver metropolitan area. In April of 2000 MegaBank was acquired by Compass Bancshares (CBSS Nasdaq) for $94 million.

In 1996, along with Jim Frank, Cohen started the assemblage of what is now known as Broadway Park. It encompasses an approximate 75 acres in the inner loop of the Denver Central Business District. Together, they spearheaded the entitlements for over 10 million square feet of mixed use, infill urban development.

Mr. Cohen has served on various public company boards and has been extensively involved on the boards of numerous charitable organizations—many in leadership positions.
